NEW BUSINESSNorwest Equity Partners, Minneapolis, has made a significant investment in Savage Sports Corp., a provider of outdoor sportsman products. Operating under the brand names of Savage Arms, Savage Range Systems and BowTech Archery, the company designs, manufactures and markets rifles, shotguns, archery and range systems primarily used for hunting, competitive and recreational target shooting. Norwest Equity Partners invested alongside Savage management in this transaction.

PERSONNELMary Brainerd, president and CEO of HealthPartners, Bloomington, has been given the Shotwell Award for leadership in health care and the Caux Roundtable Award for outstanding citizenship. The Shotwell Award is presented by the West Metro Medical Foundation to health care professionals who make a significant contribution to the field. The Caux Roundtable Award honors business leaders who display a high level of citizenship. Previous winners include former Medtronic CEO Bill George and former Carlson Cos. CEO Marilyn Carlson Nelson.
