MERGERS & ACQUISITIONSImation Corp., Oakdale, acquired intellectual property and other assets from Nine Technology. Terms were not disclosed. The assets include technology related to data deduplication, which eliminates redundancy in data backup and recovery. Nine Technology will continue to be a strategic partner for Imation as a provider of data protection offerings.

MakeMusic Inc., Eden Prairie, agreed to acquire Garritan Corp., Orcas, Wash., a provider of software musical instruments. Under the terms of the agreement, Garritan will become a subsidiary of MakeMusic. Founder Gary Garritan will join MakeMusic as director of instrumental sciences.

NEW PRODUCTSSmiths Medical, St. Paul, a medical device maker, launched the CADD-Solis variable infusion profile (VIP) ambulatory infusion system with CADD-Solis medication safety software in France, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands. The new system is already available in Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East.

Polaris Industries Inc., Medina, announced the release of the Ranger RZR XP 4 900, a four-passenger vehicle. The new model will ship to dealers in the coming weeks.

RELOCATIONEcolab Inc., St. Paul, plans to move its German offices and research center, now in Düsseldorf, to the city of Monheim am Rhein. The new location will house Ecolab's European research, development and engineering facility as well as its local sales and marketing teams.

PERSONNELInsignia Systems Inc., Brooklyn Park, said that its board of directors voted to increase the size of the board from five to six members and appointed David Boehnen to the board. Boehnen, now with the law firm Dorsey & Whitney, retired as executive vice president of Supervalu Inc. in 2010.
