Mosaic idling Florida plant

The Mosaic Co., Plymouth, will start depending more on its Saudi Arabian joint venture, Ma'aden Wa'ad Al-Shamal Phosphate Co. as it idles its Plant City, Fla., plant for an indefinite period of at least a year, the company said. Ma'aden was announced four years ago and reached production milestones in the past year. Mosaic believes it can serve customers in India and other countries more efficiently from that plant. In that respect, the lower capital requirements by idling the Florida plant will help spur higher phosphate margins.
