NEW PRODUCTS Detector Electronics Corp., Minneapolis, has released its fixed methane gas detector, approved by the U.S. Mine Safety & Health Administration. Intended for underground installation, the device uses an infrared light beam to detect and measure methane gas concentration. It also does self-checks, so that any failures do not go unnoticed.
