Company news: Allete, Enteromedics announce executive retirements

Allete Inc., Duluth, announced the planned retirement of Steven DeVinck, its chief financial officer and senior vice president.

DeVinck joined the company in 2006 and was promoted to CFO and SVP in 2014. He will remain with the company through spring 2017. Allete has begun a search for his replacement.

Enteromedics Inc., St. Paul, announced that its board chairman, Dr. Mark Knudson, intends to retire from the board effective Oct. 14. Knudson, a co-founder of the company, will continue to serve as a special adviser to the company's president and CEO Dan Gladney on clinical and scientific activities.

The board of directors has appointed Gladney to succeed Knudson as board chairman and has agreed to create a position of independent lead director. That position is expected to be approved and filled at a board meeting in December.
