A fellow who goes by Krum checks in with a rant about Target Field cell phone pictures. (Photo courtesy of Clarence Swamptown). Proprietor note: We'll be at Target Field starting at about noon today as part of the Star Tribune's WALL-TO-WALL coverage. We'll post a couple of things from there, we hope, but please e-mail suggestions if you have them. OK, Krum?

I don't know about you, but I am already tired of cell phone photos from the new Target Field. Why do my friends insist on sending these photos? You can't really see anything and even if they are close, it still looks like they are far away. Is it to say "look at me, I'm cool, I'm at Target Field?" or do they really think we can actually make out what those photos really are or who those people that look like ants in the photos are? I mean, if I want to look at good photos of the stadium I can find them online not through a cell phone.

How many people do you think will be sending out massive amounts of photos from the field today and how many of us really want them or will be able to make out what the heck they are sending anyway?

How many cell phone photos will be sent today, do you think? I think about 50,000. If half the people there send one or two, it will easily be met. Ridiculous!

He has a point. The cell phone picture is not so much to tell the recipient, ":Wish you were here, here's a nice shot of what it's like." The spirit is usually to say, "HA! I'm here! You're not! This [redacted] picture is as close as you will get." And yes, we do send cell phone pictures to friends from time to time.
