Columbia Heights police are asking residents for help in finding the person responsible for an overnight shooting that left no one hurt but dozens of bullet casings on the street.

In a news release, police said that officers responded to a report of a car being shot at near the 1200 block of 43rd Avenue NE. just before 2 a.m. Saturday.

No one was wounded, but investigators found “45 discharged cartridge casings and suspect a fully automatic weapon was used,” according to the department’s press release. The shooting did not appear to be random, authorities said.

Residents in a two-block radius of 43rd and NE. Pierce Street with cameras that may have recorded something suspicious were asked to upload the footage to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.
