UW-Green Bay beats Badgers for first time • WISCONSIN-GREEN BAY 88, NO. 20 WISCONSIN 84: Bryquis Perine scored 22 points, and Troy Cotton hit a key three-pointer as the host Phoenix beat the Badgers in overtime on Wednesday night.
Rahmon Fletcher added 18 points for the Phoenix (9-2), who held off a second-half surge by the Badgers and took control in overtime. Wisconsin-Green Bay students swarmed in the middle of the court -- but left their seats a little too early, as referees were putting 1 second back on the clock. After returning to their seats, students retook the court to celebrate.
Trevon Hughes scored a career-high 27 points for the Badgers (6-2) but fouled out in overtime.
Wisconsin jumped into the rankings after knocking off Duke last week. The Badgers had been 15-0 all time against UW-Green Bay.
Gov. Jim Doyle closed nearly all UW campuses on Wednesday because of blizzard conditions, but the game went on as scheduled.
• NO. 5 PURDUE 86, VALPARAISO 62: E'Twaun Moore scored 19 points and tied a career high with five three-pointers for the host Boilermakers (8-0), who are off to their best start since the 1993-94 season.
• UTAH 68, MICHIGAN 52: Carlon Brown scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half, leading the host Utes (5-4) over the Wolverines (4-4), who have lost four of five since opening the season 3-0.
