MOORHEAD (21-6-1) VS. EDInA (NO. 1, 24-2-1), 6 P.M.

Scouting the Spuds: Coach Jon Ammerman knew his team, stripped by graduation and an early departure, would be overlooked and underappreciated this season. "Giddy up," he said in response. "We ran with the narrative." All the way to St. Paul. The 2019 portion of the schedule featured three Spuds victories against teams in one of the two state tournament brackets, and three against teams that reached their section championship games. That said, Ammerman isn't relinquishing his approach. "I don't think Las Vegas is picking us," he joked about facing Edina.

Scouting the Hornets: Only one goal despite 19 shots through the first two periods of the Section 6 championship game against Benilde-St. Margaret's failed to rattle the Hornets. They responded with four goals in the third period. "That's been our theme this year," senior forward Brett Chorske said. "We try to wear teams down through the first two periods and then our third-period play really separates us from other teams." And how. Edina has outscored opponents 64-14 in the third period this season. Chorske scored twice in the final seven minutes to defeat Moorhead 6-5 on Dec. 27.

Worth knowing: This game marks 10 years since Moorhead ousted No. 1 Edina in the quarterfinals with a 5-2 upset victory.
