Class 1A state hockey: After two, Breck leads 9-0 over New Ulm

The Mustangs are on a roll, taking a big lead into the final period.

I didn't hear it, but word is Breck coach Les Larson said on TV that he wasn't thrilled with his team's overall play in the first period (he gave credit to New Ulm).

I bet he feels better now.

Tyson Fulton gave Breck a 3-0 lead just 38 seconds into the second period, his 35th goal of the season.

Breck kept pressure on throughout the period, and got two goals from Conor Andrle and one each from Ben Gislason, Grant Opperman, Mike Morin (his second of the night) and Wesley Iverson before the horn sounded.

Some of these goals ... it's like Breck is toying with New Ulm.

Weird, but after the 'Stangs ninth goal it was BRECK who switched goalies. Johnny Russell out, Max McCormick in.

Gislason's goal was a beauty of a one-timer, put into the top shelf off a feed from Fulton. Others have just been tic-tac-toe jobs with New Ulm having no chance.

It's a full domination; Breck leads the shot count 31-12.
