Home teams went 4-0-1 on Friday night in WCHA. UMD is the one team that did not get a victory.

Maybe Colorado College is softening Denver up a bit for the Gophers next weekend.

The Tigers beat DU 3-2 on Friday at Colorado Springs World Arena. The Pioneers had an eight-game unbeaten streak (5-0-3) going into the game. The win also enabled CC to take sole possession of sixth place, dropped the Gophers to seventh all by themselves.

So if the WCHA playoffs started this minute, the U would be at CC for first round.

Left wing Alexander Krushelnyski got the game-winner for the Tigers early in second period. Archie Skalbeck and William Rapuzzi got the other CC goals 56 seconds apart in opening period and Joe Howe, the sophomore from Plymouth, stopped 26 shots.

Drew Shore and Kyle Ostrow had the DU goals. Ostrow's came with 23 seconds to play and the Pios goalie pulled.

Jason Zucker, the Wild draft pick, had two assists for DU.

These teams are playing for the Gold Pan Trophy and CC leads 2-1-0 with one game left.

CC was 0x5 on the power play, DU 1x6.

ALASKA ANCHORAGE WINS

The Seawolves, fresh off a 1-0 win over the Gophers last Saturday, won their second game in a row by beating visiting Michigan Tech 4-1. D-men scored three of UAA's goals. Curtis Leinweber had two goals, one shorthanded, and Wed McLeod one goal, on a power play. The Huskies managed only 14 shots on goals against the Seawolves' neutral zone trap or whatever that defense is they play.

Somehow Tech got a goal. The Huskies are now 3-21-3 overall, 1-17-1 in the WCHA and on a 17-game losing streak in the conference. The record is 18.

The Gophers are probably hoping they win before their visit to Mariucci in three weeks.

UNO SHUTS OUT SCSU

John Faulkner made 33 saves as Nebraska Omaha blanked visiting St. Cloud State 3-0. The shutout was Faulkner's sixth -- the most in Division I puck. Senior defenseman Eric Olimb and forwards Brock Montpetit and Matt Ambroz scored the red Mavericks' goal, all within a 1:41 stretch in the second period.

MSU STRIKES IN OT

Host Minnesota State continued its hex over Bemidji State, beating the Beavers 2-1 in overtime. MSU has won seven in a row in this series. D-man Channing Boe got the game-winner at 2:32 of OT.

MSU outshot BSU 43-19 but Dan Bakala was there to stop 41 of those shots.

Ben Youds, another purple Mavericks D-man, got the first goal. The Beavers tied the scored with 2:25 to play on center Jordan George's goal.

WCHA SKED NEXT WEEKEND

Besides DU at Minnesota, here are the other series next week:

Bemidji State at Michigan Tech during Carnival Week ... do the Huskies get a win? These teams are 11th and 12th in WCHA and are looking locked in those spots. Tech has three points, BSU 12, which puts the Beavers four behind St. Cloud State and Minnesota State.

St. Cloud State at UMD ... Every series is big for the Bulldogs here on out if they want to remain in the hunt for the MacNaughton Cup

Alaska Anchorage at North Dakota ... looks like a mismatch, but UAA has its ways of keeping games close and only UMD and DU have been able to sweep the Seawolves

Wisconsin at Nebraska Omaha ... battle for fourth place. Going into Saturday's game, both were tied for fourth with 24 points and were three behind UMD and DU, tied for second.

Minnesota State at Colorado College ... Purple Mavs coule help the Gophers by leaving the Springs with a few points. CC and the U are in a battle for sixth place, the last home-ice playoff spot.
