Candy maker offers delectable discounts Abdallah Candies and gift shop (3501 W. County Rd. 42, Burnsville, 952-890-4770, www.abdallahcandies.com) celebrates its 101st anniversary through Saturday. Save 20 percent on most chocolates in 8-ounce bags or more. Gifts in the sidewalk sale are discounted 60 percent through Friday and 75 percent Saturday. The local institution puts ordinary turtles to shame with its popular cashew and caramel bear paws, on sale for $9 a pound, regularly $18.

Deals at 50th & Xerxes Eight small, independent businesses at 50th and Xerxes in Minneapolis are participating in a semiannual shop and stroll sale Saturday and Sunday. Everything at the following businesses is discounted 20 percent: Bella Galleria (furniture consignment and accessories, 612-922-9227, www.bellagalleria.net), City Chic (furniture, jewelry, antiques, 612-926-8934), Gallery 360 (reasonably priced art, jewelry and home accessories, 612-925-2400, www.gallery360mpls.com), Hunt & Gather (antiques and vintage, 612-455-0250, www.huntandgatherantiques.com), Loft Antiques (612-922-4200, www.loftantiquesmpls.com), Vinaigrette (imported vinegars and oils in refillable bottles, 612-922-9192, www.vinaigrettemn.com), the Vintage Studio (women's vintage clothing and accessories, 612-929-2559), and Xylos (woodworkers' collective, 612-922-1702, www.xylosgallery.com).

Half off at Value Village Thrift stores such as Savers, Unique and Goodwill often have 50-percent-off-everything sales on selected holidays, but many shoppers can't make it then. Arc's Value Village gives everyone a nonholiday break by discounting everything 50 percent Saturday at all four stores (Brooklyn Center, 763-503-3534; New Hope, 763-544-0006; Richfield, 612-861-9550; St. Paul, 651-788-8300, www.arcgreatertwincities.org). White-tagged newer items are exempted from the sale. The clearance sale makes room for the back-to-school and fall fashions display, which starts Aug. 3.
