County Rd. 42, Burnsville, 952-890-4770, www.abdallahcandies.com) celebrates its 100th anniversary Monday through Aug. 1. Save 30 percent on most chocolates. The progressive sidewalk sale starts with everything discounted 50 percent on Monday and increases to 75 percent by the end of the week. There will be free samples, a silent auction benefiting Sharing and Caring Hands (items listed online) and daily drawings for goodie bags and grand prizes. If you're unfamiliar with the local, venerable candy company, try the cashew bear paws on sale for $8.50 per pound, regularly $15.50 and anything that contains Abdallah's specialty, caramel.

A new site with all the kids' consignment sale dates Clothing consignment isn't new, but semiannual sales offered by franchises featuring maternity wear, children's clothing, toys, sporting goods, baby and nursery items, cribs, strollers and play equipment are becoming a big deal. At least 10 sales are coming up between August and October for fall/winter merchandise. Sales include Just Between Friends (Brooklyn Park, Eagan, Eden Prairie and Edina), Go Fish (Elk River and St. Louis Park), From Yours to Mine (Lakeville), Spoiled Little Rascals (Eagan), and Munchkin Markets (St. Paul and Stillwater). Finally, one of the franchisees, Henriette Roe of From Yours to Mine, has compiled a list of all the sale dates and addresses at www.TwinCitiesKidsSales .com. The sales are a win-win for buyers and sellers. Since the events are held only semiannually, overhead and prices are fairly low. Consignors get a larger percentage of the sale price (65 to 80 percent) than at most consignment shops. Bargain hunters can wait until the last day of the sales for half-price day, but only clothing is usually left by then, no toys or strollers. Consignors can choose to donate items to charity if they don't want to see them again.

Bloomie's home sale This Friday and Saturday at Bloomingdale's (Mall of America, 952-883-2747), get selected All-Clad for 25 to 50 percent off. Rarely on sale, the discounted All-Clad pieces include a BBQ tool set, French skillet, lasagne pan, pizza set and grill pan. Other deals include beach towels for $10 that were $27 to $75 and Charisma towels at the lowest price to date, $14.99 (regularly $32). A Villeroy & Boch Twist Alea 50-piece service set for eight is $300. I found the same set for about $250 online, but none of the suppliers had it in stock. At V&B outlet in Albertville, the same set sold for $350, but the set is no longer offered during the store-closing sale.
