Metro Transit saw overall ridership grow last year, but rates are still far below pre-pandemic levels. As it seeks to bring riders back, the agency has added new transit lines and beefed up measures to discourage bad behavior.

Still, the system’s ridership in May was 44% below May 2019 levels, Metro Transit data show.
