C.H. Robinson Worldwide, the Eden Prairie-based third-party logistics firm, reported 4th quarter revenue of $3 billion and adjusted diluted earnings per share of 68 cents per share Tuesday. Fourth quarter revenues increased 15.7 percent over last year while the adjusted earnings per share came in 1 cent per share over the same quarter last year but under analysts expectations of 70 cents per share.

The fourth quarter revenue increased with the help of two recent acquisitions. In early October, Robinson completed the acquisition of Polish freight forwarder Apreo Logistics and in late September the company announced a $635 million acquisition of ocean and air transportation firm, Phoenix International.

For the year-ended Dec. 31 total revenue was $11.4 billion, a 9.9 percent increase over 2011. Net income for the year, adjusted for nonrecurring transaction costs, was $720.5 million or $2.76 per share — a 4 percent and 5.3 percent increase over 2011, respectively.
