Eden Prairie-based C.H. Robinson said Friday it has agreed to acquire a leading freight firm in Poland.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Apreo Logistics S.A. of Warsaw was founded in June 2007 and provides various types of truckload services, as well as additional warehouse space and air and ocean services, to about 2,000 customers.

According to C.H. Robinson, Apreo has shown "significant growth" in recent years, with gross annual revenue of more than $100 million. The company has more than 300 employees in 21 offices throughout Poland and an outpost in Germany.

"This acquisition expands C.H. Robinson's presence in Europe and supports our goals to strengthen our capabilities in our core business and further diversify our modal offering, both of which benefit our European and global customer base," said Bryan Foe, president of C.H. Robinson Europe, in a statement.

The decision to acquire Apreo is the latest in C.H. Robinson's ongoing expansion in Europe, including a new office in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, which focuses on temperature-controlled transportation.

"We are taking a long-term approach towards Europe and feel now is a good opportunity to increase our commitment to the region," said John Wiehoff, CEO of C.H. Robinson. "The agreement to acquire Apreo supports our strategy of making continued investments in our business within the continent."

Apreo CEO Arkadiusz Glinka will continue in a similar role.

The closing of the deal depends on clearance from the Polish government.
