Countless books and websites offer business plan templates and related materials. Here are some places to start: • The business reference section at your public library or the James J. Hill Reference Library in St. Paul (www.jjhill.org or www.biztoolkit.org)

• Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development: www.deed.state.mn.us (click on "start a business")

• Minnesota Small Business Development Centers (www.mnsbdc.com) and SCORE (www.score-mn.org) offer classes on starting businesses and writing business plans.

• The U.S. Small Business Administration (www.sba.gov) offers business plan tools in the small-business planner section of its website.
