Brunson picked to start All-Star Game for West

Lynx forward Rebekkah Brunson has been selected to start for the Western Conference in the WNBA All-Star Same at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in San Antonio.

Seattle coach Brian Agler chose Brunson, the league's leading rebounder, to replace Los Angeles center Candace Parker, out because of a knee injury. "That's exciting news," Brunson said. "I was just excited to be here."

Forward Maya Moore, a rookie teammate of Brunson, also will start for the West. Lynx guards Seimone Augustus and Lindsay Whalen will be West reserves.

Canterbury chooses Hall classCanterbury Park will induct jockey Derek Bell; trainers Mac Robertson and Ed Ross Hardy; breeders Jeff and Deb Hilger; and the horse Sir Tricky into its Hall of Fame on Aug. 6.

Etc.• Brainerd native Brock Larson headlines a mixed martial arts card Saturday night at Target Center. Larson (31-5) will face Eric Davila (19-10) of Dallas as part of the Extreme Challenge 188.

• The Saints gave up a season-high 17 hits and lost 10-2 to the Sioux City Explorers, their fifth consecutive home loss. The Explorers' Nick Schumacher pitched a two-hitter.
