Boston Marathon bombing victim to be honored at harbor island park where she worked

BOSTON — A woman killed in the Boston Marathon bombings is being honored at one of her favorite places.

The east gazebo on Spectacle Island Park in Boston Harbor will be dedicated to 29-year-old Krystle Campbell.

Campbell was from Medford, just northwest of Boston. She was one of three people killed April 15 when two bombs exploded near the marathon's finish line.

Campbell was catering manager at Jasper White's Summer Shack, a seasonal cafe on the island. Cafe owner Jeff Dugan says the gazebo was one of Campbell's favorite places to relax.

The Boston Parks and Recreation Commission voted Monday to honor Campbell with a plaque on the gazebo after her colleagues and other advocates requested it.

The 105-acre offshore park is overseen by the city, the state, the National Park Service and the Boston Harbor Islands Alliance.
