The convenient narrative, based on the tradition of the Wild and the reputation of the Blackhawks, was to look at the first two periods of Game 3 — 27 combined shots and zero goals — and determine the home team was dedicated to grinding the game to a halt.

Closer to the truth: The Blackhawks were the ones dictating the tight-checking game with limited opportunities in an attempt to choke the life out of the crowd.

It almost worked … right up until the point it didn't, with the Wild scoring four times in the third period. It will be interesting to see if the same style is employed in Game 4, or if Chicago tries to open things up.
