Minnesota favorite Bonnie Raitt will open the State Fair grandstand series on Aug. 27.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer has considered Minnesota a second home since she recorded her 1971 debut album in a studio on an island in Lake Minnetonka. She always seems tuned in to what’s happening in the Twin Cities. And she’s been a regular at the Minnesota State Fair grandstand. This will be her ninth appearance there.
Raitt, a 13-time Grammy winner known for the hits “Something to Talk About” and “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” performed in September at the Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park. She last gigged at the State Fair in 2016.
The revered guitarist/singer has given some memorably emotional concerts at the State Fair, notably the day after the death of her friend, guitar hero Stevie Ray Vaughan, and after the death of her brother Steve Raitt, a recording engineer and longtime Minnesota resident.
Tickets, priced from $46 to $99.25, will go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 30, at etix.com and 800-514-3849. Presale information is available at bonnieraitt.com.
Other concerts announced for the grandstand thus far are Weird Al Yankovic on Aug. 28 and Rod Stewart on Sept. 1.
