Jockey Tanner Riggs won three races during the Festival of Champions at Canterbury Park, which drew an event-record 17,053 fans -- the largest crowd this season -- to the Shakopee track.

Riggs captured the $50,000 Minnesota Classic Championship aboard Coconino Slim and the $50,000 Minnesota Distaff Classic Championship on Congrats and Roses. Both horses are trained by Mac Robertson, who has wrapped up his eighth consecutive training title. Riggs also won the $22,350 Minnesota Quarter Horse Futurity aboard Fly Eyeann.

Sugar Business won the $65,000 Northern Lights Futurity for 2-year-old colts and geldings in a time of 1 minute, 10.32 seconds, a record for the six-furlong stakes race. Nomorewineforeddie captured the $50,000 Minnesota Sprint Championship for the third consecutive year.

The crowd was the fourth-largest in Canterbury history. A total of $845,309 was wagered on the 11-race card, with $432,978 wagered on track.
