Shelby Swanson joined the Minnesota Star Tribune as a sports intern in summer 2025. Originally from Durham, N.C., she studied journalism and Spanish at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was the sports editor of The Daily Tar Heel. She later reported on college sports for The Raleigh News & Observer as a contributing writer. When she’s not covering games, Shelby enjoys playing pickup basketball, discovering new music and binge-watching Curb Your Enthusiasm.
