1902: George Dayton builds at 7th and Nicollet Av.
1903: The existing retail store, Goodfellow's, takes the Dayton name.
1913: Addition completed.
1929: Another addition finished.
1947: The site expands to three quarters of the block and rises 12 stories.
1947: The Oak Grill and Skyroom restaurants open.
1969: Dayton's merges with Detroit-based J.L. Hudson Co.
1983: Last of the five Dayton brothers, grandsons of the founder, retire.
1990: Dayton-Hudson buys Chicago's Marshall Field's.
