Gopher Resource, Eagan, named Wayne Hale chief executive. Hale was the chief operating officer since early 2014 and was president of the upstream primary metals division for Noranda Aluminum Holding Corp. Former Gopher Resource chief executive Mark Kutoff will transition to chairman of the board.

Dorsey & Whitney, Minneapolis, named Nicholas Vlietstra partner in the finance and restructuring group. Vlietstra was senior vice president and deputy general counsel for U.S. Bancorp and was an associate for Dorsey & Whitney from 1994-1999. Dorsey & Whitney also named Jeffrey Cadwell, Sarah Iannacone, Benjamin Lindblad, Joel O'Malley, Betsy Parker, Eric Rauch, Jaime Stilson and Alyson Van Dyk partners, effective Jan. 1, 2015.

Barnes & Thornburg named Niall MacLeod partner in the Minneapolis office, effective Jan. 1, 2015. MacLeod was a founding partner of Myers, Boebel & MacLeod and before practicing law was a telecommunications engineer.

Gray Plant Mooty, Minneapolis, named Andrew Daly special counsel in the employee benefits and executive compensation practice group. Daly previously worked for Boulay and is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas School of Law.

The Lacek Group, Minneapolis, named Kevin Bauer director of digital strategy. Bauer was vice president of digital commerce for Harry & David. He was a director of digital commerce for Cabela's and has worked for Altrec.com, Yahoo! and Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Risdall, New Brighton, named Sara Dziedzic vice president of business development. Dziedzic worked for Flexion in business development and previously worked for Risdall in business development.

American Time, Dassel, Minn., named Jeff Bergeson director of sales, north central region. Bergeson was director of the premium packing solution division at Anchor Paper and has worked for Imation. American Time also named Tom Foehrenbacher vice president of sales. Foehrenbacher was the previous director of sales, north central region.

KLJ named Kerry Rauschendorfer project manager for its St. Paul office. Rauschendorfer has worked for BASF and is a graduate of North Dakota State University.

American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota gave James Dorsey the Earl Larson Award. Dorsey is a lawyer for Fredrikson & Byron and was a founder of the Advocates for Human Rights.
