State workers should begin filing for unemployment benefits online next week between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Which day depends on the last digit in their Social Security numbers.
1 or 0 should apply Monday July 4.
2 or 3 should apply Tuesday July 5.
4 or 5 should apply Wednesday July 6.
6 or 7 should apply Thursday July 7.
8 or 9 should apply Friday July 8.
Anyone who misses the designated day may apply on subsequent days. Laid-off workers can apply for benefits via the website: www.uimn.org. Click on Apply for Benefits. Common questions regarding the shutdown and benefits are addressed at: www.uimn.org/ui/shutdown.
