Colorado Springs, Colo - For three days, Apple Valley basketball star Tyus Jones fought to prove himself against 26 of the best 15- and 16-year-old basketball players in the country in a tryout for the Men's National Developmental Team at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

On Sunday, Jones, a 15-year-old whom the Gophers have offered a scholarship, was rewarded for his efforts with a spot on the 12-man squad, which will compete for a gold medal at the FIBA AMERICAS U16 Championship for Men in Cancun, Mexico, June 21-June 25.

I'll write more about the tryout Monday.
