Americans rout Sweden in Four Nations third-place game

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Kelli Stack, Jocelyne Lamoureux and Hilary Knight each scored twice in the United States' 8-1 victory over Sweden on Saturday in the Four Nations Cup third-place game.

Kate Buesser and Brianna Decker also scored for the United States. The Americans outshot Sweden 59-6.

Buesser and Decker scored in the first period, and Sweden's Sofia Engstrom cut the deficit in half in the final minute. In the second period, Stack had two power-play goals and Knight scored another. Stack added a shorthanded goal in the third.

The U.S. finished the pre-Olympic tournament 2-2, also beating Sweden 10-0 in the opener. Sweden was 0-4.

Canada played Finland in the championship game Saturday night.
