American Arbitration Association says it won't take on consumer debt cases A New York company has agreed to temporarily stop accepting consumer debt arbitration cases, the Minnesota Attorney General's office said Tuesday. Attorney General Lori Swanson said the American Arbitration Association, responding to her request, agreed to no longer take part in consumer debt arbitration proceedings for now. On Sunday, the office said it reached a settlement with the National Arbitration Forum, based in St. Louis Park. The state accused the company of deceiving consumers into thinking it was a neutral arbitrator in debt collection.
