Artspace's first New York City project will be the former Public School 109 in East Harlem, a five-story Gothic Revival building completed in 1898 that will become a mixed-use building with up to 90 units of affordable housing for artists and their families, and 10,000 square feet of space for arts and cultural organizations. The project is a partnership between Artspace and El Barrio's Operation Fightback, a nonprofit community development organization based in East Harlem.
