Now through Sept. 29, bring in clothing and bedding to donate to Goodwill and get a coupon for 10 to 20 percent discounts on regular and sale-priced items storewide. (One coupon is given for each item donated.) The best use of the coupons is to combine them with an item on sale. This year the coupon may be used on Yellow Dot clearance merchandise. Shoppers can also use the coupon on cosmetics and fragrances (15 percent savings), as well as Coach, Columbia and designer sportswear (20 percent savings). Get a coupon for 25 percent off clothes, 20 percent off cosmetics and 15 percent off electronics if you sign up at www.million actsofgoodwill.com. Coupons cannot be used on Incredible Value merchandise or special orders.

Despite many options, an estimated 70 percent of owners will leave the body with their veterinarian to dispose of.

Emotional and financial considerations range from euthanasia timing, cremation decisions and how to best memorialize a furry friend.
