A busy Wednesday

The Vikings' preparations for Sunday's opener against Cleveland will get into full swing today at Winter Park.

Vikings players will return to work today at Winter Park to begin preparations for Sunday's regular-season opener in Cleveland. The coaching staff spent Tuesday working on the game plan but the busiest days for players during the regular season are Wednesday and Thursday.

Wednesday also is a big day for media access so we'll have plenty of updates throughout the day here on the Access Vikings blog. The day will start off with Cleveland coach Eric Mangini participating in a conference call with Twin Cities reporters just before 10 a.m. Browns running back Jamal Lewis will be on the call once Mangini has finished up.

Of course, we would really like to hear from the Browns starting quarterback but with Mangini attempting to keep everyone in the dark on whether Derek Anderson or Brady Quinn is going to start that's not going to happen. Speculation is it's going to be Quinn.

As for the Vikings, coach Brad Childress and quarterback Brett Favre will both speak today and we'll also get reaction from other players. Favre's usual day to speak during the season is going to be Wednesday and I can tell you from having covered him before you never know when he's going to say something interesting.

That sets up the day for us at Winter Park. Continue to check back and make sure you check out our new Access Vikings page.
