50 years ago today: Dodgers 2, Twins 0, Game 7

Reader Roland Anderson passed along two sweet photos he says he took on Oct. 14, 1965 — 50 years ago today, and the date the Twins and Dodgers played Game 7 of the World Series at the old Metropolitan Stadium.

In one of the pictures, a billboard in downtown Minneapolis proudly proclaims "Congratulations World Champs," a bit of wishful thinking that never came to fruition.

Instead, the Dodgers — behind a two-run fourth inning that was all Series MVP Sandy Koufax needed in twirling a three-hit shutout — took the game and the series over the host Twins.
