4 holiday light displays and 5 other free things to do this week

From Duluth to Mankato, holiday light displays add sparkle to the season.

1. Bentleyville Tour of Lights

View the bright and shiny holiday light spectacle before it ends this weekend. (5-9 p.m. Dec. 24-25; 5-10 p.m. Dec. 26-27, 350 Harbor Drive, Duluth, bentleyvilleusa.org)

2. Holiday Swap Meet

After Christmas is done, some may feel the need to purge. Bring board games, duplicate toys or other nerdy items to trade. (2-6 p.m. Dec. 26, the Curious Crow Company, 9157 S. Highway Drive, Circle Pines, curiouscrowcompany.com)

3. Ice Skating at Highland Arena

Burn off that holiday ham with a few turns around the rink. (4 p.m. Dec. 26, 800 Snelling Av. S., St. Paul, ramseycountymn.gov)

4. Bold North Breakaway Fan Zones

If you don’t have tickets to the World Juniors hockey tournament, you can still get in on the action. Fans can lace up at the TRIA Skills Rink in Rice Park and warm up by a bonfire. Inside RiverCentre, explore hands-on exhibits, local vendors, a live DJ and the Delta Dental Locker Room Experience. 6. Movie in the Dome

Burn off residual energy from the holidays with various sports equipment before a screening of “The Incredibles.” (Open dome time at noon Dec. 28, followed by movie at 2 p.m., Regional Athletics Center Dome, 1655 Livingston Av., West St. Paul, wspmn.gov)

7. Winter Lights

Centennial Lakes Park dazzles with a light display throughout the area for those on a walk, run or even sitting on a bench. (Dusk-10 p.m. daily, 7499 France Av., Edina, edinamn.gov)

8. Kiwanis Holiday Lights

Drive or walk through this light display and visit with live reindeer. Free, cash and nonperishable food donations accepted to benefit local organizations. (5-9 p.m. Sun.-Thu.; 5-10 p.m. Fri.-Sat., ends Dec. 31, Sibley Park, 900 Mound Av., Mankato, kiwanisholidaylights.com)

9. Celebrate the Light of the World

More than 800,000 lights, 350 extension cords and 1,200 volunteer hours were used to create this holiday light spectacular. (5-10 p.m. daily through Dec. 31, Robbins Island Regional Park, 333 6th St. SW., Willmar, Minn., celebratethelight.net)
