3M wins a round in patent dispute over bandage sales

March 29, 2011 at 11:43PM

3M Co. said Tuesday that it has withdrawn a request for a preliminary injunction against Andover Healthcare Inc. after the Salisbury, Mass.-based company pulled its two-layer compression bandage systems from the market.

Maplewood-based 3M sued Andover in December on the same day 3M received a patent on a line of two-layer compression bandages used to treat venous hypertension and venous ulcers. 3M introduced its first two-layer compression bandages in 2006.

The suit, which is ongoing, sought a court order preventing Andover from selling and accepting orders for its products as well as unspecified monetary damages.
