A 2-year-old shot in the head during a Father's Day celebration in St. Paul remained in critical condition Tuesday.

Chastity Yulia Vang and about 20 other people were in the backyard of her father's house in the 200 block of Maryland Avenue W. late Sunday night. A man approached the house through a nearby alley and started shooting. The girl's father and a friend were also shot, but their injuries weren't life-threatening.

No arrests have been made and investigators haven't determined a motive for the shooting. The shooter and one of the adult victims had a relationship with each other, but police have not said how they are linked.

The shooting wasn't random. Some witnesses talked to police, but others declined to cooperate.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for the family to assist with medical bills. The link is: https://www.gofundme.com/ulia-medical-bills

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
