Two women in a minivan were killed in a collision with a semitrailer truck on a Minnesota highway, officials said.

The crash occurred about 1:40 p.m. on Dec. 24 on Hwy. 75 about 8 miles south of Pipestone, the State Patrol said.

Killed in the crash were the minivan’s driver, 71-year-old Patricia Ann Struiksma of Chandler, Minn., and her passenger, 69-year-old Donna Jean Vanthof of Leota, Minn., the patrol said.

According to the patrol:

Struiksma was heading west on 21st Street and collided at the rural intersection with the semi, which was heading north on Hwy. 75. The patrol said road conditions were wet at the time of the crash.

Struiksma died before reaching a hospital. Vanthof was declared dead that same day at Pipestone County Medical Center.

The semi’s driver, 53-year-old Chad Jonathan Walters of Pipestone, was not injured.
