The drive on Hwy. 169 through Hopkins and Edina was quite nice this morning, with no accidents or major delays. That is about to change.

In Hopkins and Edina, Hwy. 169 will be reduced to a single lane in both directions starting today between the Crosstown and Hwy. 7. MnDOT will begin fixing three bridges:

  • Bridge over Nine Mile Creek (Edina)
  • Bridge over Excelsior Blvd, Third Street and the Canadian Pacific Railroad (Hopkins)
  • Bridge over Second Street (Hopkins)

Lane restrictions will be in effect until July 15.

Here is a reminder about utility work that will be going on in downtown Minneapolis all this week.

Crews from CenterPoint Energy will be installing a new gas line in downtown Minneapolis this week, and that is expected to bring delays for motorists on 4th Street and Park Avenue.

The work will take place over the next two week, starting today. Here is where lane closures and detours will be in effect this week, June 10-14 at the corner of 4th Street and 5th Avenue S.:

  • Northbound 5th Avenue will reduced to two lanes.
  • Eastbound 4th Street will be reduced to two lanes. Westbound Metro Transit buses will be on detour.

At the corner of Park Avenue and 4th Street, Park will be reduced to two lanes.
