A Zumbrota man has been charged with four counts of failing to file taxes and two counts of failing to pay taxes, the Minnesota Department of Revenue said today.

According to charges filed in Goodhue County, Robert Epps Sr., 50, failed to file income tax returns from 2003 through 2006. The complaint said he made about $509,000 in those years while he worked as a tax preparer.

Epps admitted that he has similar problems in filing his taxes in the late 1990s, the complaint said.

Each felony count is punishable by a maximum of five years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both.

A court date has not been set.
