A man is dead after his vehicle veered off Hwy. 61 in Red Wing early Saturday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Frank Joseph Anderson, 63, of Zumbro Falls, was driving a 1999 Ford Escort southeast on Hwy. 61 when he ran into the west ditch about 1:15 a.m., according to authorities.

His car went down an embankment and entered the adjoining service road, only to veer off the roadway again. It came to rest after hitting a parked Ford pickup truck near the intersection of the service road and Charles Avenue.

Anderson was not wearing a seat belt, according to the State Patrol report. In addition to the pickup truck, a Jeep Wrangler was also involved in the crash. No one else was hurt.

Red Wing police assisted troopers at the scene.
