Zoo makeover: Facts box

APPROVED

•This year and next, the zoo will be spruced up with $20 million in state money.

•The changes? New theater, education center, revamped entrance and penguin exhibit.

FUTURE REQUESTS

•$42 million, including private funds, would bring a visitor center, new east entry, new African kopje exhibit, snow monkey exhibit, more food and shops in 2013-15.

•$8 million in 2015-16 would build a hilltop entry exhibit with bison, elk, whooping cranes, prairie dogs.
