You say you want a resolution

Back seat wisdom and then some

December 31, 2010 at 6:55PM

We were driving home last night and "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" by the Beatles came on the radio.

I turned it up and sang along. It is one of the few songs in a key that I can kind of sing in tune.

After I sang the chorus "HEY! You've got to hide your love awaaaay...." Ben piped up from the back seat. "Well, that doesn't make any sense."

"What? "

"Why would you want to do that? I thought you are supposed to share your love not hide it "

That kid.

Wisdom from the back seat.

I think I'll adopt that as one of my 2011 New Year's resolutions Share your love in 2011 don't hide it away...

(Sometimes it's hard with stoic Scandinavian roots and all...)

It's easy to share it with my kids, for sure.

More resolutions? Here are a few of mine:

Limit the screen-time: TV, videos for kids (and myself - with this computer here and my mobile phone) Life is good and time moves more slowly without constant glowing screens. Spend more time on the floor with the kids. Get lunch dates on the calendar with old friends I don' t see often enough.

Here are some other parenting New Year's resolutions from around the web:

Much happiness to you and yours in 2011 Cribsheeters - make it a great year of memorable moments!

Do you have any resolutions to add to the list?

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
