As reported earlier today, Guillaume Latendresse is out indefinitely with a concussion. He was checked last night by Doug Murray and that's where he thinks the injury took place. However, he was also driven face first into the glass in Calgary two days before by Mark Giordano.
He was symptom-free, but as often is the case with concussions, sometimes it takes another jarring hit to trigger symptoms.
That's conjecture. What's not is coach Mike Yeo is planning on life without Latendresse for a while.
"You hear that word [concussion], you don't expect to have them back in a day or two anymore, that's for sure," Yeo said.
For right now, Yeo is thinking only about Saturday's game at Los Angeles. He said they're still beating around who moves to the first line, but Cal Clutterbuck would be the likely guy, which would keep a third line that played very well in Calgary of Darroll Powe-Kyle Brodziak-Nick Johnson. But Yeo also liked Johnson on that line in the third period yesterday.
I'd think it sounds like Clutterbuck will play there. No callup now. Warren Peters will get into the lineup and play on the fourth line with Colton Gillies and Brad Staubitz.
Obviously this is a big loss for the second-worst offense team in the NHL (2.13 goals per game).
