Authorities say a woman from east-central Minnesota had a bright idea about what to wear to her bank robbery, which turned out not to be so bright after all.
A 39-year-old woman from Stanchfield was jailed Monday just across the border in Polk County, Wis., after robbing the Eagle Valley Bank in St. Croix Falls, the Sheriff's Office said.
It was hard to miss the woman during the heist Friday. Along with a baseball cap and sunglasses, she was sporting a bright yellow highway safety vest, the Sheriff's Office added.
The robber handed over a note threatening that she had a weapon and then left with an undisclosed amount of cash, said Sheriff Peter Johnson.
Bank employees called 911 with a description of the woman and her car, which allowed a St. Croix Falls police officer to stop her and take her into custody. The bank's money was recovered.
The same bank was robbed March 2, also by a woman in sunglasses but different clothing. There has been no arrest in that crime. Five weeks earlier in Princeton, Minn., a woman in a neon green vest and baseball cap robbed a Bremer Bank branch. There has been no arrest in that case.
All three robberies occurred on Fridays.
