Police are investigating a bomb threat at Metcalf Junior High School that led to the school's evacuation Monday morning.

Eagan police were called about 8:50 a.m. after the discovery of an anonymous written threat at the school, according to a statement from the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District.

Police walked students and staff in the building to nearby Cedar School, the site of the district's alternative high school. They then searched the school thoroughly with bomb-sniffing dogs, but found "nothing even resembling a bomb," said Eagan police Sgt. Steve Bolluyt.

Students returned to their fourth-hour classes about 11 a.m.

The school followed a plan put in place for such situations, the district said.
