The tiresome case of Joaquin Phoenix has a new wrinkle. As you may know, he's in a movie about his attempts to become a rapper. Is it a documentary? A mockumentary. Is he serious? Crazy? Fooling everyone? Are you going to eat that last donut? The one with the sprinkles? I'll split it with you. No, seriously, I don't want the whole thing.

Anyway, the movie is playing at the Toronto International Film Festival, where we get this dispatch:

There's probably less money in being a professional Joaquin Phoenix impersonator than you'd think.

Keep in mind this is a movie about a guy who threw away a successful mainstream movie career. He could have made a lot of money, then done whatever he wanted after he grew fatally bored of sitting around on a set and speaking other people's words for a few hours each day. Instead he decided that the most important thing to do was pack on 50 pounds and stand on a stage speaking in rhymes.

When he's not falling off the stage, that is.
