She calls herself the "world's meanest mom" in a Craigslist ad that she claims is a legit attempt to sell her 15-year-old daughter's red 1998 Dodge RAM SLT truck as punishment for being disrespectful at home, skipping school and bad grades.
The Chisago County mom is willing to negotiate, but asks $2,750 for the V8, four-wheel drive truck with more than 158,000 miles on it.
"I currently have every teenage kid's dream vehicle up for sale (because it's titled in my name, I can do that, you see)," the mom wrote.
Her daughter "has decided that her grades don't matter, that she can disrespect myself and her siblings on a daily basis, and that she has the right to skip school and run away from home," the mom wrote.
It wasn't possible to confirm the veracity of the ad because the mom didn't respond to an e-mail inquiry. The ad didn't provide a phone number, but did say, "This is a REAL ad."
As for the truck, it's jacked up on 35-inch tires, runs and drives "decent." The heat is hot and the AC is cold, but it needs work because the previous owner cut off the exhaust pipe behind the catalytic converter, the ad said.
"So unless you enjoy breathing exhaust fumes and migraines on a regular basis, I'd suggest replacing that," the unidentified mom wrote, adding that "John" at Forest Lake muffler told her it's a $350 repair. The truck also needs a windshield that she believes will cost $250 at a shop in North Branch.
She noted that her asking price is less than the $3,321 in Kelly's Blue Book for the truck in fair condition.
