World of Wheels entry deadline is this Thursday
Got a really hot vehicle? Hot enough to win some cold cash, a trophy or some merchandise? Or how about a great model car? Do you have one ready to enter in a contest? If you have a cool car or model, this year's World of Wheels (Feb. 6-8 at the RiverCentre in downtown St. Paul) may be right up your alley because the show is looking for great local vehicles large and small.
The show will hand out $17,000 in cash, merchandise and trophies to the owners of the winning (people- size) vehicles that enter. But if you haven't registered your vehicle yet, you need to hurry because the deadline is Jan. 22 (next Thursday). To enter, visit www.autorama.com/ casi/show/stpaul.html or call 248-373-1700. Prizes will be awarded in many categories, including street machines, rods, customs, trucks, bikes, restored, off-road, sports and club displays. And there's $500 for the finest Minnesota car (past winners are ineligible).
For miniature car builders, the contact for the show's ModelMania III Model Car Contest is Steve Kitowski (952-236-9470 or modeler1954@yahoo.com).
Check out preowned features on Sunday
In these distressed economic times, some car buyers might be considering a preowned vehicle rather than something new. Along these lines, be sure to check this section tomorrow (Sunday) for two features on preowned vehicles: the 2006 Honda Accord and the 2006 Ford Explorer (pictuerd). In addition, check the classified ads and the information online at Startribune.com/cars for complete listings for new and used vehicles for sale.
