A finding of neglect was made against some staff members at a Sandstone nursing home for failing to perform CPR on a resident, according to a report made public by the Office of Health Facility Complaints this month.

On June 16, the resident of Pine Medical Health Care Center said he felt ill. When a worker arrived with nausea medication the resident had no pulse.

A nurse was summoned. When staff couldn't find his written resuscitation wishes, the nurse called her manager who told her where to find the documents and to start CPR.

The nurse told investigators that "she 'froze' and was unable to do so" even though the resident's wish was to be revived.

The nurse faces disqualification by the state and inclusion on an abuse registry.
