Work the edges for big Muskies

Are you "on the edge" ....the Muskies are

Right now Muskies are patrolling the weed edges like Lions on the Serengeti. Preditors all like a little cover to get close so they can spring the trap on their victims.....in the case of Muskies the trap is filled with hundreds of sharp teeth. If you are struggling to locate fish break it down to the basics, are you fishing where the weeds stop and create an ambush point for the Muskie. So far this year the deep weed edge has created the bulk of the fish catching excitement but right now in the metro area the Sunnies and Gills are on their spawning beds creating a buffet for large preditors on the inside edge. With water temps on the rise expect at least some of the Muskie population to partake of the Panfish buffet that is now on the menu. Work low light periods.... early morning and sunset or even a bit later as the reduction in light gives the larger fish an advantage and perhaps a feeling of security as they get back into skinny water for the first time since the spawn. Keep presentations simple.... inline spinners, spinnerbaits and topwater should all produce.
What to do after all those tasty panfish move out....stay tuned
